Super Brit James Dodd aboard his JSR Thunderroad Honda is now within touching distance of gloriously being crowned the 2019 IMBA MX1 European Champion. Following Sunday's very tough round 5 held in the axle deep, energy sapping sand of Meijel in Holland, Dodd holds a nice 119 point advantage at the top of the title standings.
At Meijel, Doddy took 7th overall with a hard earned 7/6/8 placing to put another 123 IMBA points in the bag. Those points were to prove to be even greater in stature though as Dodd's closest title rival Stijn Verstrepen of Belgium was a surprise non-starter in Holland. Verstrepen's failure to appear also allowed Dodd's JSR Teammate Andy Smart to move up into 2nd in the standings after going 8th overall on the day with a 8/8/10 scorecard. The final AMCA Team Great Britain rider on duty in Meijel was another pilot mounted aboard JSR Honda machinery as Ashley Thomas produced a 12/12/15 result for 14th overall. At present Ashley holds 4th in the IMBA Championship table and just 44 points behind Danish rider Nicolaj Damsgaard in 3rd spot.
The title race now goes to Kleinhau in Germany on 29th September where James Dodd requires just 62 points to be crowned the 2019 IMBA MX1 King.
