The AMCA Championship has a long and proud history acting as a breeding ground for some of the best motocross talent this country has produced. In recent years the championship has grown in stature as a number of riders that have come through the Association ranks have matured along with a steady influx of top riders from other governing bodies.
The depth of talent in the Open class is arguably the strongest it's been making for close, exciting racing. There has been a knock-on effect too in the IMBA series as the AMCA has performed strongly on the International stage.

There's no doubt that the biggest smile on display following round 1 of the 2018 AMCA British Motocross Championship at Norley, Cheshire on Sunday belonged to the very talented Lancashire based rider Ryan Crowder.

With a cool and very accomplished performance, Ashley Greedy aboard his Andrew Marsh Motos Yamaha moved to the top of the 2018 AMCA British Motocross Championship MX1 standings at Boraston, Shropshire on Sunday.

Cannock @ Lower Drayton
In the high quality and very competitive MX1 Championship, Josh Waterman on the fast IDS Transport/JD Racing KTM produced a terrific performance and thus take a deserved first overall win in 2018.

North Area @ Hawkstone
Just four weeks after suffering potential Championship season ending injuries, Josh Coleman (LRS/HTF Husqvarna) and Bradley Tranter (E.T James KTM) remarkably returned to MX2 action at Hawkstone and impressively figured in the opening moto top end shake-up.

The main headlines on the day came in MX2 where Josh Coleman, a serious title contender saw his season come to a painful end and Clinton Barrs scored what will surely prove to be one of the most popular overall wins of the season!

Although some riders decided to leave for home before racing had commenced in this latest battle powered by Datatag and supported by Dunlop, the opening MX1 title chase proved that you could certainly still race on the sodden surface!

Just seven days after a tough opening round of the 2017 AMCA British Motocross Championship, the riders had to dust themselves down and find the energy to do it all again on Easter Sunday. After starting on a track making its debut, it was back to the more familiar terrain of Nympsfield for round 2 in this super series powered by Datatag and supported by Dunlop.

Less than a month after switching from KTM to Apico Husqvarna, Ryan Crowder showed that he has well and truly dialled into his new machine by bagging a superb overall MX1 victory during round 6 of the AMCA British Motocross Championship at Boraston, Shropshire on Sunday.

During a season in which he has been left frustrated by niggling injury woes, Marsh MX Honda pilot Shane Carless can at last see some positive light at the end of the tunnel!

Topping the Frocester podium, Josh reduced leader Ray Rowson's advantage down to 43 points. Rowson though the MX2 man very much inform was also on that box along with Luke Dean, the rider that currently sits 3rd in the series powered by Datatag and supported by Dunlop.

The end result was that Luke Burton (Rikki Priest Frasier Husqvarna UK) and Josh Waterman (JD Racing/IDS Transport KTM) have both extended their MX1 and MX2 Championship leads.

Just like the weather, the action out on track during round three of the AMCA British Motocross Championship at Frocester on Sunday proved to be very hot! Luke Burton (Rikki Priest Frasier Husqvarna UK) and Josh Waterman (JD Racing/IDS Transport KTM) comfortably maintained their respective MX1 and MX2 series advantages.

With the AMCA British Motocross Championship now having passed its midway point, the pictures at the top of the respective title chases are becoming a little clearer. As Luke Burton(MX1) and Josh Waterman(MX2) the leaders right from the off continue to gradually edge away from the chasing pack, Ben Saunders(2T) and Matt Gordon(Vets) have both now stretched their advantages following a dramatic round four at Hawkstone Park on Sunday.

Twelve months after bagging the AMCA MX2 British Championship title, Luke Burton(Rikki Priest Frasier Husqvarna UK) can now also add the MX1 crown to his portfolio. In a tense finale to the 2016 series powered by Datatag and supported by Dunlop, the race for this year's MX1 glory went right down to the last moto of the contest.

How can I start?
This all depends on what discipline you want to start with – some require you to take a licence whilst others are more flexible and allow you to turn up and ride. Once you have opted for a discipline, see the FAQ for more tailored questions.
What is the difference between motocross, enduro, and trials?
These are all different disciplines the AMCA caters for, along with much more. Motocross is fast paced, short races over both natural and man-made terrain with 36 riders going into a first corner. Enduro is more long distance, long duration events, usually through woodland. Trials is slow paced, technical, balance based over challenging short course with the object to go through without putting your foot on the floor.
How old do I have to be?
The AMCA accepts riders from the age of 6 for trials, 7 for motocross, 11 for enduro and supermoto, and 16 for classic scrambles.
