Date: 26 January 2017
There have been a couple of changes to the 2017 series during the last few weeks, writes Dave Gittins.
The Acorns club has been added to the series and they will host Round Two at Butterton on 14th May; and the 3rd Round at Blencarn (courtesy of Cumbria Classic) has been moved to 25th June. The revised championship programme now looks like this:

23rd April: Bath Classic @ Yatton Keynell, near Chippenham, Wilts.
14th May: Acorns @ Butterton, near Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffs
25th June: Cumbria Classic @ Blencarn, near Penrith, Cumbria
16th July: Mortimer Classic @ Bennetts Hill, Theale, near Reading
6th August: North Devon (Atlantic) @ Combe Martin, North Devon
27th August: Moseley (Birmingham) MCC @ Hanbury, Worcestershire
1st October: Llanthony Classic @ Llanthony, near Abergavenny, Mon.

Once again the championship will be split into two categories - Pre-65 and Pre-74: the Pre-74 category will include ELIGIBLE Japanese machines. Also round barrel Victors go in the Pre-65 category, square barrel Victors are Pre-74.

At each meeting the championship event will be an invitation event. The list of invited riders will appear in the programme. Pre-registration is not necessary although I will be asking for e-mail addresses.

Time permitting and the club’s agreement there will be two championship races for each category at each meeting, run separately. Failing that the categories will be combined and race together with separate results. Each race 15 minutes plus 1 lap. Every race will count towards a rider’s final points total. Points will be awarded down to 15th place.

If in doubt about machine eligibility, please check the AMCA Classic Rule Book pages 10 – 15. Particularly page 10 item 25.2 regarding date of manufacture and page 11 item 27.1 – 27.9 for the suspension rules. Eligibility may be checked at any of the championship meetings.
